Hey bestie! Today’s story is a little different. It truly touched our hearts. We recently attended a special event. It reminded us why this community is amazing. The night wasn’t just about rides. Instead, it was full of music and hope.
I’m Melissa, your Disney bestie, here to make your next busy day a little lighter and brighter. It’s time to whistle while you work as we take a look inside the 5th Annual Magical Night of Hope.
What is the Magical Night of Hope?
The Magical Night of Hope is a special, intimate Christmas concert and fundraiser featuring some of your favorite Disney YouTubers. This year, the energy was electric, but the focus remained on a wonderful cause: benefiting the Give Kids the World Village.
For this event, Paul and I really wanted to be present. We decided not to “mic up” in the traditional sense because we wanted to soak in every note of the music and every word of the stories shared. Instead, we documented the atmosphere and the heart behind the night so you could experience the magic right along with us.
The VIP Experience: A Glimpse into the Village
We opted for the VIP experience. This allowed us to tour the Village before the festivities began. In case you’re new here, Give Kids The World is an 89-acre nonprofit resort. Located in Kissimmee, Florida, it provides week-long wish vacations to critically ill children. These families stay at no cost. The Village includes 166 private storybook villas. Additionally, guests enjoy accessible rides like the Enchanted Carousel and Jurassic Junction.
They provide week-long, cost-free vacations to children with critical illnesses and their families. Partnering with organizations like the Make-A-Wish Foundation, they ensure that families who have spent far too much time in hospitals get a chance to laugh, play, and simply be together. Families enjoy all meals and snacks cost-free during their stay at Give Kids The World Village.
Seeing the village in person is a humbling experience. It is a place built on the “permeation of kindness,” as President and CEO Caroline Schumacher described it. Almost everything in the village is donated—either physically or through donor dollars—and the operation is largely run by passionate volunteers whose talent making wishes come true is at the heart of the Village.
Voices of Hope: Stories that Inspire
The night was filled with music, but the most powerful moments came from the people whose lives have been changed by the Village.
A Legacy of Leadership
We heard from Caroline Schumacher, the President and CEO of Give Kids the World. Caroline’s history with the village goes back to 1998. She started as a volunteer, met her husband there, and raised her children within the culture of the village. She spoke beautifully about the “intangible magic” in the air at the resort—a place where everyone has “permission to be kind.”
Naomi’s Story: From Wish Child to Mother
The highlight of the evening was hearing from Naomi, a former wish child who visited the village in 2001, just weeks after the events of 9/11. At the time, her family was in a state of total upheaval. Her health was failing, and they didn’t know if they would ever have the chance to make memories together.
“We needed a break. We needed something to pull us all back together and just create some memories and some magic. Because we didn’t know… we didn’t know if we would ever be able to come back to see her star.” — Naomi’s Mother
Give Kids The World Village provides a magical week of experiences where wish kids can enjoy the simple joys of childhood away from hospital visits and medical procedures. During their stay, wish families create priceless memories together away from hospital visits and medical procedures. Parents and the whole family are treated to a week where families laugh, bond, and experience joy together, free from the stress of medical procedures.
Today, Naomi is an adult and a mother herself—a “miracle” she was told might never happen after her treatments. She spoke about how the kindness she received at the village shaped the person she is today. It gave her a safe place when her “home” was a hospital, and now, she passes that kindness on to everyone she meets.
Fun, Music, and a Very Special Auction
Of course, it wouldn’t be a night with Disney YouTubers without some fun! The event featured a live auction hosted by Dale and Jenna, with some truly unique experiences up for grabs to help raise funds.
Auction Highlights:
Miniature Golf with Corey and Stephanie: A chance to hit the links with some of our favorite creators.
Zoom Calls and Dinners: Personal time with creators like Steve and Nate (Paging Mr. Morrow).
Exclusive Merchandise: Including some very fancy “Roosevelts” (hoodies) and signed collectibles.
One of the most entertaining segments of the night was Paging Mr. Morrow himself taking the stage for a tradition: reading a Little Golden Book. This year, he tackled Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Despite a few hilarious mispronunciations (like “abdominal” snowman instead of “abominable”), his heart for the cause shone through.
By the end of his reading, it was announced that between the auction, live donations, and a generous contribution from PinHQ/Go Pin Pro, the event had raised over $40,000 for the village!
How You Can Help
The Magical Night of Hope is more than just a concert; it’s a lifeline. Since 1986, Give Kids the World Village has served nearly 200,000 families from all over the world. During a typical year, volunteers fill approximately 1,800 volunteer shifts each week at Give Kids The World Village, using their talent making wishes come true for so many families.
If you feel called to support this mission, you can visit magicalnightofhope.com. Donating to Give Kids The World Village helps provide cost-free vacations for critically ill children and their families. You can support by volunteering your time and talent, participating in fundraising events, creating your own online fundraising campaign, or through corporate partnerships and individual volunteer opportunities. Whether you donate, join an event, or help spread the word, every bit helps give a child and their family a moment of peace and joy during their darkest times.
