Hey bestie! Today I’m here at the most magical place in the Disney bubble for the holidays: The Magic Kingdom. I am beyond excited to show you around and highlight all the incredible things you can do to celebrate the season. From towering trees and sparkling garland to seasonal treats and “snoap,” there is so much magic to uncover. Magic Kingdom holiday festivities typically begin in early November and continue through early January, so you have plenty of time to experience all the festive cheer.
While many people associate the holidays at Disney World with Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (a special ticketed, after-hours event), I’m here to show you that you can have a spectacular, festive day on a non-party night without that extra ticket!
The Grand Entrance: Main Street, U.S.A.
The moment you step under the train station and onto Main Street, U.S.A., you are hit with the sights and smells of Christmas. It is truly stunning.
The Iconic Christmas Tree
The centerpiece of the park is the massive Magic Kingdom Christmas tree. It is decorated with classic “home-style” trimmings:
Popcorn strings
Gingerbread men
Ornate bows and giant ornaments
A nostalgic train set, rocking horses, and toy soldiers tucked underneath
Pro Tip: There is a Disney PhotoPass photographer stationed at the tree. It’s the perfect spot to grab your official holiday card photo!
Main Street Decor
As you walk toward Cinderella Castle, don’t forget to look up. Every balcony is draped in lush garland filled with fruit and ribbons. The lampposts are adorned with the classic Mickey Wreaths, and larger wreaths with flickering candles hang over the street. At night, when these are all lit up, the atmosphere is unbeatable.
The Window Displays
The windows of the Emporium tell a story. This year, you can follow along with Mickey’s Christmas Carol. Each window features a different scene with beautifully crafted figures like Ebenezer Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. It’s a wonderful way to slow down and enjoy the storytelling Disney is famous for.
Meeting the Big Guy: Santa at Storybook Circus
You can’t have a holiday trip without seeing Santa Claus! Over at Storybook Circus (tucked away in Fantasyland near Tomorrowland), Santa has a dedicated meet-and-greet spot under the Big Top.
Check the App: Use the My Disney Experience app to find his specific greeting times.
The Setting: The line moves fairly quickly, and the backdrop is perfectly themed for the “jolly old soul.”
I had the best time telling Santa that moving to Celebration, Florida, was my Christmas wish come true. He even checked to make sure he had my new address for Christmas Eve!
Themed Decorations Around the Park
One of the best things about Magic Kingdom during the holidays is how the decorations change to match the different “lands” and attractions. It’s like a festive scavenger hunt!
Fantasyland Favorites
Dumbo the Flying Elephant: Look for the wreaths featuring Dumbo himself and the Ringmaster’s hat.
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh: These lampposts feature honeybees and flowers. Under the tree, you’ll find gifts tagged for Eeyore, Piglet, Tigger, and a honey-covered box for Pooh.
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train: This is one of the most unique trees in the park. It’s decorated with pickaxes and glittering gemstones. At the very top, you’ll even see tiny reindeer!
Gaston’s Tavern
In Belle’s village, the decorations take on a more rustic, masculine feel. At Gaston’s Tavern, the wreaths even include a mirror—because we know Gaston loves looking at himself!
Holiday Merchandise: Stay Cozy in Style
If you want to skip the massive crowds at the Emporium, head over to Star Traders in Tomorrowland. They carry a great selection of holiday apparel. Here are a few of my favorite finds:
| Item | Price | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Castle Knit Sweater | $89.99 | Features a V-neck, Mickey buttons, and a pattern of the castle and trees. |
| Classic Mickey Plaid | $79.99 | A super-soft red plaid sweater with Mickey in a Santa hat. |
| “Tis the Season” Tee | $34.99 | Lightweight with icons like the Jingle Cruise and Mickey bars. |
| Gingerbread Minnie Purse | $39.99 | An emerald velvet crossbody with a red bow and a tiny gingerbread Minnie. |
Festive Eats & Drinks
You can’t do Disney without snacks! I tried two items today that are absolute must-haves.
Cherry Cordial Cold Brew
Located at Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies in Tomorrowland, this drink costs $6.29. It is Joffrey’s Cold Brew topped with:
Cherry whipped cream
Chocolate drizzle
Chocolate crunch pearls
The Verdict: It’s surprisingly not too sweet! If you give it a good stir, the cherry flavor blends perfectly with the coffee. It’s one of the best Joffrey’s seasonal offerings I’ve had.
Gingerbread Cake
Over at Columbia Harbor House, you can find a tree-shaped Gingerbread Chiffon Cake for $6.29. It features cream cheese frosting, dulce de leche panna cotta, and chocolate pearls.
The Verdict: The cake is incredibly soft and the gingerbread spice is prominent without being overwhelming. Since Columbia Harbor House is a quick-service spot, it’s a very easy treat to grab during lunch or dinner.
For even more festive flavor, head to Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café. During the holidays, they offer special menu items like seasonal sandwiches and desserts featuring creamy soft serve and rich chocolate sauce—perfect for delighting your taste buds. Be sure to check out the variety of dining locations throughout the park, each offering unique festive treats to enjoy.
Entertainment You Can’t Miss
Even without a party ticket, the evening entertainment at Magic Kingdom is top-tier during the holidays.
Even without a party ticket, the evening entertainment at Magic Kingdom is top-tier during the holidays.
Frozen Holiday Surprise
This show takes place right in front of Cinderella Castle. Anna, Elsa, Olaf, and Kristoff gather to decorate the castle for the season. The snowgie siblings and Olaf help add garlands, ornaments, and wreaths to Cinderella Castle, transforming it into a shimmering crystallized palace. Elsa uses her powers to transform the castle with stunning projections. Real Disney “snow” (soap bubbles) falls over the crowds. The show concludes with a beautiful burst of fireworks above the spires. Best of all, Frozen Holiday Surprise is available during regular park hours, so you don’t need a special event ticket to enjoy it.
The Jingle Cruise
The world-famous Jungle Cruise gets a holiday “overlay” known as the Jingle Cruise. The skippers have a whole new batch of holiday-themed corny jokes, and the boats and queue are decked out in Christmas lights and tropical decorations.
“Wave to the naughty people on the dock! Santa knows what they did—that guy sees everything!” — Skipper Chloe
Don’t miss the variety of entertainment options and live entertainment throughout the park, including dance parties with Disney pals in festive attire and special entertainment on select nights. The Christmastime parade is a must-see, bringing holiday floats and characters down Main Street, and Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks is a nighttime spectacular that lights up the sky with festive music and dazzling effects.
Ending the Night: The PeopleMover Hack
As the sun goes down, the vibe in the park shifts. The lights twinkle, the air feels cooler, and the magic feels even more real.
My favorite way to end a holiday day is a ride on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover. It’s the perfect vantage point to see the holiday lights of Tomorrowland and even catch glimpses of the fireworks while you relax and rest your feet.
The Magic Kingdom during the holidays is a dream come evening. Whether you’re hunting for the “hidden” decorations in Fantasyland or sipping a cherry cold brew while watching the castle transform, there is something for everyone.
If you’re exploring other parks, don’t miss the Merry Menagerie on Discovery Island at Animal Kingdom, where artisan-sculpted puppets of arctic animals like polar bears bring the season to life. Over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, festive experiences await at Echo Lake and Sunset Boulevard, including Disney Jollywood Nights, Minnie’s Holiday Dine, and Mickey’s Christmas Carol projections. EPCOT features the Candlelight Processional with celebrity narrators and festive displays at CommuniCore Hall. At Disney Springs, enjoy live entertainment and special events on select nights, plus a wide variety of dining locations.

And don’t forget—Santa Claus himself is also greeting guests here, so you can meet Santa and let him know what’s on your wish list this year!

Woody, Jessie, and Buzz Lightyear don their holiday finery, complete with scarves, hats, and plenty of Christmas spirit. The whole area is bursting with holiday decorations, making every meet-and-greet feel like a scene straight out of a winter wonderland.

Throughout World Showcase, you might also spot other Disney favorites joining in the merriest celebration of the year, surrounded by sparkling lights and festive traditions from around the globe.
Animal Kingdom: Discovery Island Delights
Animal Kingdom’s Discovery Island is a hidden gem for holiday fun. Here, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and even some Frozen friends make appearances in their wintery outfits. The area is beautifully decorated with artisan sculpted puppets and arctic animals, creating a magical backdrop for your photos and plenty of holiday cheer for the whole family.
Disney Springs: Festive Fun for All
Don’t miss the holiday magic at Disney Springs! Take a stroll along the Christmas Tree Stroll and meet Santa Claus at his North Pole-inspired spot—perfect for a classic holiday photo. You might also catch Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and other Disney characters in their holiday attire at the Town Center, spreading joy and posing for pictures.
Pro Tip: Use the Disney Experience app to check real-time schedules and locations for all your favorite character meet and greets. With so many options across Walt Disney World, you can plan your day to maximize the holiday magic—no party ticket required!
